Have you heard ? Stress is good for you


Stress is good for you? I know what your thinking, no way!!!img_8174Stress is key for survival, but too much stress can be detrimental. Emotional stress that stays around for weeks or months can weaken the immune system and cause high blood pressure, depression, anxiety and even heart disease. You need a release, now if you can change your mind about stress and the fact that its beneficial you can also change your body’s response towards stress.Imagine this; you are about to take the trash out, and accidentally… the door closes and your locked out of your house, it’s over 100 degrees outside, you have a 2 year old child in the house, you left the oven on, your cell phone, car keys everything is in the house and your locked out . What do you do? First things first you start panicking a tad bit. And …here comes the stress.  You start sweating, heart rate goes higher, the body is about to release two major stress hormones: Norepinephrine and Cortisol.img_8955Norepinephrine boosts heart rate and controls the fight-or-flight response, a threat to survival. It resembles chemically  to the hormone epinephrine – better known as adrenaline. Suddenly you gain this inexplicable hulk like strength , your brain starts working , you start analyzing the situation, your toddler can’t stay alone too long and suddenly you remember the kitchen window. The window that always seems to not close properly, the window that always gives you a hard time. all of a sudden you start climbing the wall to reach the window , to take of the screen and push the window open.It was the stress that made you do it, that burst of energy. Helping you meet your challenges, your goals. The key is to change your perspective if stress. The idea that its bad to good for you. Similar to this notion can be The feeling of Anger Anger is in fact a form of positive energy and can be used as powerful motivating force towards achieving your goals. The notion that it will help you overcome and figure out the best solution. Now if you take this into consideration, next time you encounter a stressed out situation, with Anger or a pinch of fear ,you can overcome it, panic less, reach your goals and challenges and utilize the adrenaline for your benefit. Stress is a survival skill, embrace it and it will reward you, it is good for you.Natalee JB ♥
