People often say think positive. Think happy thoughts. Don’t think negative thoughts. In a society where anxiety is at its full toll how can you completely not think negatively ? Everywhere you glance, whether social media, Netflix, peer groups etc…things , ideas, aspects of life that make you think negatively. Bills to pay, money to save, car to pay, job , rent, mortgage , how to dress, how to look, what to eat, weight gain,….so much to think of its overwhelming. So how can you break out of this cycle? The most important thing is to be conscious of your negative thoughts in order to rewire the brain. Ignoring them is probably the worse thing you can do. Like many facts of life it takes training , train yourself to think differently than 90% of the population.
1. Every time you encounter a negative thought that “pops” into your mind, greet it and then send it off with a positive thought or idea. Also bring some humor into it. ex: you get laid off: wow! finally i won’t have to burn down the building…ok now i can be a bounty hunter like i always imagined. Just laugh about it, you will get another job, you will meet new colleagues. no point in being sad or worried it won’t change anything in that moment except put you in a bad mood.
2.Stop being a victim of your own mind and thoughts. Our minds are extraordinary . What other species we know off, who can observe their own thought? truly amazing as an ability. But it has a bad side to it. Our mind can fall into a negative pattern and victimize us. The second you fall into that episode , be conscious of it and rewire your mind.You are not a victim, bad things aren’t happening to you , look at it as challenges, lessons to learn and grow from. rewire your thinking.
3. Surrond your self with positive thinkers, mentors, friends. Their positivity will penetrate into your very own mindset. You become like the 5 people you often surround yourself with.
In the end its important you comprehend its never too late to change and rewire your mindset.
